Tonight the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the 82nd annual Academy Awards. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are on tap to host. * Though the statuette is officially the Academy Award of Merit, it is better known as the Oscar.

I read this in the Des Moines paper and wanted to share it with you.
"Theater owners were banned from selling snacks during the run of Ben Hur, 1959 Best Picture. The movie was deemed to be too much of an artistic event to be denigrated by popcorn and candy."
